For both Junior High and High School there are four possible Divisions teams: Division A, Division B, Division C, Division D. Divisions are based not on school size, but rather the number of riders participating with that team in a given season. Teams can change Divisions from year to year, however once the season begins they must compete in that division for the remainder of the season. At the Regional competitions and the State Championship teams only compete against other teams in their same Division. At District meets it varies from District to District as to whether teams compete against all teams in their District, regardless of Division, or they compete against just teams in their Division. Individual Districts are free to chose their meet format. For High School District meets, regardless of how the teams compete against each other the teams that advance from each District to their Regional are limited to the 2 highest scoring teams in each Division. Both the maximum amount of Team Slots (classes) as well as the individual rider maximum slots are different by Division.
